The Devil's Wood Yard- Muddy Puddles!

Devil's Wood Yard Mud Volcano!!

Well after driving for exactly two hours from Diego Martin to Princess Town! Jeez! 😥 in probably the most deplorable road in Trinidad, well after the highway, finally I found the Devil's Wood Yard Mud Volcano, with the assistance of the All Trails App, oh and the vendor selling lemons that looked like mangoes, and severely camera shy 😯. Yes its true what they say about Trini's giving directions, so shortly after getting the weirdest directions I found the park.

Oh and just as this post captions! Muddy Puddles! If you have kids and they bug you every day to put 'Peppa Pig' on the television, then your sure to know that Peppa Pig and her little brother George loves jumping in muddy puddles, which is the first thing I thought of  when i visited this park, that I was gonna jump in muddy puddles, as it literally looks like a field of muddy puddles.

Anyway, before you  guys get your hopes high and drive all the way down to New Grant to see this wonderful natural marvel, I suggest calling the Princess Town Regional Corporation (+18686552239) to see if the site has been reopened as there was a recent eruption on February 13th 2018 that forced the park's management to close the park to ensure the safety and well-being of visitors. I legit had to wait till the authorities got fed up and left before i could have sneaked in 😇.

As you enter the park, this is the view.

There are several versions of how its name was derived one of which is that, after its first eruption in 1852 when the entire village was shaken and trees fell, frightened villagers who were Amerindians at the time and were superstitious, believed that the devil came out of the earth and cut down the woods. Yea some spooky history there 😈.

This is actually a very peaceful area now, littered with slides and swings for the kids to enjoy; with the mud giving a slight hiss and pop sound, as opposed to in the past when there were violent eruptions. Several picnic benches have been placed around the area surrounding the mud volcano vents. There is also a large area of grass where children can play, a small cricket field with a pavilion and a paved car park.
